The REAL meaning of Black Friday

If you're as crazy about Halloween as I am, you may be still recuperating on Thanksgiving weekend. Don't let that stop you - Black Friday is an AMAZING time to shop for Halloween deals. If you're on their mailing lists, companies like Spirit of Halloween and AtmosFEARfx will send you helpful reminders, but don't stop there. There are plenty of shops that are not dedicated to Halloween but are rich in resources that are also having sales.

I've already decided that my 2017 Halloween party will have a steampunk theme, and I'm dressing up the inside of my house as the Nautilus. If you have done any shopping for anything that qualifies as steampunk, you know that many of these items are highly detailed and so highly expensive. They also have limited use (if your home is not dedicated to a steampunk vibe year round - as mine is not) and they take up storage space. You may also know that there is a tremendous opportunity for DIY decorations at a fraction of the cost. Black Friday brings down the cost even further.

So, for example, I want some of my walls to be covered in exotic "wall paper." My answer is some amazing Tyvek gift wrapping paper with a big Black Friday discount, which I found at Zazzle.com. While in previous years, I have bought theater shoes for my costumes through Amazon, this year I found the perfect pair of steampunk boots discounted at gothicplus.com. And since they're real boots, I'm looking forward to wearing them throughout the winter with non-steampunk outfits too.

So when you're shopping for the holidays, don't forget to shop for ALL your favorite holidays and give your budget a break in the new year!
